Full day tour with private car to discover Tripoli and Byblos - STARTING FROM 2 PERSONS
Day trip to Tripoli, to the far north of the country. Tripoli is Lebanon's second largest city, dating back to at least the 14th century B.C, and has the second largest amount of Mamluk architectural heritage on Earth (after Cairo). You will visit the largest crusaders fortress in Lebanon “the Citadel of Raymond de Saint-Gilles”, Hammam Ezzedine, the old souk, which sells all types of vintage, culinary and commercial products, and the olive oil soap factory Khan Al Saboun.
The day trip finishes with a tour of Byblos, 37 km north of Beirut, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world: dating back to 8,000 years. Cradle of the alphabet, it witnessed multiple civilizations, among them the Canaanites, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, and Ottomans. The heart of the city lies in its ancient souk, built during the Ottoman reign, which was composed of several khans (inns), shops and horse stables. Its famous 1000-year-old citadel has panoramic views of the Mediterranean, where you can climb the stairs of a Roman Amphitheatre and appreciate a 2,000-year-old Phoenician necropolis.
